Thanks for listening in on our previous post!
On a rather exciting note, our new Cocoveda Hair Oil is finally here!
We had specially selected some of the finest herbs for hair and blended them with our coconut oil. We prepared to create the perfect hair oil using all the goodness of India’s Ayurvedic herbs. We made sure this oil was going to be exactly what everyone desires and needs!
We chose 100% pure coconut oil as our base oil, because during our research and from our experience coconut oil is the most popular and beneficial hair oil to be used.
Coconut oil is known for adding shine, and bounce to your hair. It moisturizes very well. It is also a light hair oil, and absorbs very well. It smells so amazing, you almost want to eat it (but don’t eat ours!). Coconut oil strengthens the hair shaft, reducing split ends, and hair breakage.
The herbal extracts that were chosen are listed here:
- Henna: this was added because the henna plant is known for strenghtening the hair, and conditioning it.
- Shikakai: we added this herb because it is known for promoting hair growth
- Neem: relives dry, itchy scalp. It is widely used in ayurvedic hair oils. It is used to treat the symptoms of scalp psoriasis. It gives you shiny, silky, stronger hair and encourages growth.
- Amla: this herb also is known for promoting hair growth, and thickening hair. It is also known to prevent premature greying
- Methi (fenugreek): known to reduce hair loss, and thinning. Treats dandruff.
- Bhringraj: we added this herb to improve the condition of the hair, quality of the hair color, and for healthy scalp and hair.
- Brahmi: used to improve hair growth, and is known to be a memory enhancer.
- Nagarmotha: it works on the hair root, and stimulates it. It is used to treat scalp disorders.
- Ginger: is considered one of the most powerful herbs in ayurveda. It has very potent stimulating properties, and increases blood circulation to your scalp will which result in faster growing hair.
- Hibiscus:a very popular addition to ayurvedic hair care, it contains an abundant amount of astringent properties that are ideal for oily hair. It also soothes eczema, and dry scalp conditions.
You can use Cocoveda Hair Oil as a deep conditioning treatment. To do this, just apply onto your hair, in a quantity that is needed for your hair length, and rub thoroughly into your hair and scalp. This promotes further blood circulation. Put a shower cap over your hair, and leave on for about one hour. Rinse out when finished.
Coconut oil can solidify in cooler temperatures. Some clients enjoy using the coconut oil when it is thick. It will return to a liquid very quickly when warm, even in your own palms. Use as needed, and especially along with your henna and herbal hair treatments.
Use your best judgement, and go with what works best for you.
Cocoveda Hair Oil will work for you! It brings all the beneficial, and essential ayurvedic herbs that are perfect for getting your hair into the perfect regimen.
How does Cocoveda Hair Oil smell? It smells absolutely yummy! It reminds us of coconut desserts, containing both coconut and sweetness.

Hi Noori, thank you for posting on our blog. I apologize for the delay in response.
I am located in Brampton and you can shop at http://www.hennasooq.com/ca-store and make your order there for either local pick up or to add shipping to you.
I hope this helps, and indigo would be PERFECT for your mom’s recipe to tone down those really bright red/orangey tones that henna alone would give. Speak soon!
Thank you for sharing such a nice information. I tried your product and it works!
Great! So glad you like it.
I definitely try your tips and advice.
There are various oils that can help your hair greatly such as tea tree oil.
Thank you for your comment Ethnic Hair Oils. You are right, there are many great hair oils, that is why we have chosen to carry so many amazing ones, including tea tree oil.
I love the smell of this stuff. I hope it really helps the condition of my hair.
Since I started using henna and indigo my hair is always dry and I noticed that it does not absorb the hair moisturizers as before. My hair sheds alot, alot. Is it that henna and indigo is not for me? I wonder.
I also noticed that the ends of my hair which were dyed with synthetic dye is like straw. How do I correct that. What can I do to improve on the texture of my hair. It is really frustrating. I really thought that dying my gray hair with henna and indigo would have been perfect.
Thank you for your post Seriah!
Henn and herbs for hair can be drying. You would have to use one of our shampoo bars and/or a hair oil to balance that out. Do you use those products at all as yet?
Well, I try not to use shampoo since my hair is so dry. I use jojoba oil to seal in the moisture after I have moisturized my hair but it is still so very dry. I think i will have to try the cocoveda hair oil. How should I use this hair oil to alleviate my problem.
The Cocoveda hair oil can be used the same way as you use your jojoba oil. I’d think argan oil might be a better choice though. Did you read about that one?
Khadijah, I very much am intrigued to purchase and use this oil, for it appears to be a very nutritious hair tonic. One question though, I’m a shea-butter lover and make whipped shea-butter frequently, would I be able to use this hair oil in place of the olive-oil and/or grapeseed oil?
Thanks for your post. Yes you could use this in place of your other oils, for sure 🙂
Hi..
I have really oily hair (gets oily n limp in a day..).. n hairloss.. which oil do u suggest?
Thank you for your post Nik.
If your hair is already oily you may want to not oil it with hair oils. Especially not heavy oils. First you should wash your hair at least every 1-2 days because it is oily. Use an herbal hair treatment of herbs such as henna or cassia, and some amla powder for hair growth and other ayurvedic herbs as a hair mask to get your hair back in a healthier shape. I really suggest this. Thank you! Let us know how it turns out. You can get these products at http://www.hennasooq.com
I want to say I am in so in love with this oil & is now #1 to my Vatika oil.. I have been using this oil for 3 wks now & my hair loves it & not only the smell is awesome. the other day I had to stretch my twist to my nose to see if that was my hair smelling so nice. This will definitely be my staple hair oil. Thank you.
Meca, thank you! You’ll be happy when we get out new batch in and they’ll be in both 100 ml and our new larger 500 ml bottles! It was by demand, and we had to get it in stock. It should be here within 2 weeks
I’m asian and my hair is very dry, coarse, and frizzy from Aveda color treatments. I have tried many, many expensive hair straigtening creams and oils, but none worked as wonderfully as your cocoveda oil! After showering, I applied a little cocoveda to the lower half of my damp hair and blow dried it straight as usual. My hair came out shiny, flat and straight, I didn’t even need my flat iron! My co-workers noticed my beautiful hair right away when I came to work and asked what I used?? Thank you sooo much for such a wonderful product! million!!
Thank you for your post Eliz.
I am so glad to hear Cocoveda is working amazing for you! WOW, that is absolutely amazing. You are more then welcome, and thank you for sharing your insight and how Cocoveda made your hair turn out. We have a new 500ml bottle coming out soon as well
It’s day 2, and I haven’t washed my hair after using cocoveda oil yesterday. You won’t believe how my hair is still straight, shiny, and as fresh looking as when I finished blow drying it yesterday! It just needed a couple runs of the flat iron at the bottom part, and the iron went through my hair smoothly without snagging. Your cocoveda oil is truly incredible! I just wish it came in a jar with a larger opening so the solidified oil is easier to scoop out. What I do is blow dry the top of the closed bottle until enough oil melts to pour out.
Eliz, I’d love to see pictures 🙂 We could showcase your results on our blog. It’d be amazing! This is true, it’d be easier to scoop it out when it solidifies. If you squeeze hard or melt it a bit, it comes out as well. That is a good tip on melting it!
I read that Shikakai and Neem are used as cleansers, so I’m wondering if your Cocoveda Hair Oil is best to be rinsed out (as it might irritate after too long in the hair) or if it can safely be used in the hair between washes e.g. as a daily oil moisturizer or as an oil for protection during thermal styling ? I also read that hair oil can be used before a soap bar, and the soap bar removes the oil residue. I was thinking of using it the other way round – your shampoo soap bar first and then Cocoveda Hair Oil as a deep conditioner -to be rinsed out with water. My hair type is dry. Sorry for asking so much, but i just ordered my first Cocoveda Hair Oil from you and not quite sure yet how i should use it.
Thank you for your post Marie. No we don’t have clients or personally anyone amongst ourselves (family) who found it irritating at all as these are herbal extracts not straight herbs. It’s mainly a coconut oil with herbal extracts. Most of us leave it in. Yes it can be safely used daily. It also depends on your hair type if it gets too oily or not. Some leave it in overnight and wash it out in the morning. It’s up to your hair and preference.
You can leave it in, that would probably be the best method as most of our clients like using it that way and we do too. I hope this helps! Enjoy your Cocoveda when you get it.
Hi! I love the cocoveda hair oil so far, it make my hair shiny and full of body! I have been applying a small amount to wet hair & scalp after shampooing and then comb through. However, when I used a straightening iron about 24 hrs later, I noticed my hair smoked a bit!! I don’t want to fry my hair. Is it a ok to use the hair oil with heat styling? I also henna’d the day before, so I guess that’s a possibility too.
Hi Erin, thanks for your post and comments!
This oil is good for heat, but it might be that if there is some on the hair strands it might smoke because of the liquid. Like steaming off some. How did you find your hair after the heat treatment?
My hair turned out silky and incredibly shiny. Good to hear its safe to use with heat,I will definitely try it again. Thanks Khadija!
Erin, that is perfect! Welcome
Cocoveda is a new staple for me. It is great as a DC, and leave-in making my hair very soft and conditioned. It has also helped me to air dry successfully. That’s important to me because now I can use less heat in attempting to dry my hair, which leads to healthier hair. Before I would get breakage, puffy hair, my hair would “re-tangle” after detangling and was simply unmanageable in an airdried state. No other product seemed to work until I tried Cocoveda. It instantly makes my hair soft, manageable, and it dries straight while hanging down without the tangling and breakage I was experiencing before while attempting to airdry. It’s fantastic!! I’m looking forward to the long-term results but glad I was able to get immediate results that have advanced my healthy hair care regimen.
Thank you Tasha! We are so glad you love it!!
Wow this looks fantastic! I think I’ll be ordering some with your Yemeni henna when it’s back in stock 🙂 Do you ship to the UK?? Please say it is so!
Jai, you’ll love this. Yes we do ship to the UK. We can’t wait for yemeni to come back in stock as well. So patiently waiting!
Hi. I am very interested in trying your cocoveda oil. I am a little hesitant however because it contains henna. I have tried regular henna on my hair before and it dries my hair out quite badly. Do you know if this oil would cause dryness for people who get dryness from henna? Thanks so much for your response!
Samantha, thank you for posting. The henna in this oil does not alter your hair and it’s an oil extract not pure henna powder in there. So it doesn’t dry the hair out. It’s one of our most popular hair oils
Hi Kadisha,
I just received the Cocoveda Oil and love it! I can’t wait to use this oil for my pre-poo. I usually apply oil, cover with plasitc cap and sit under dryer for 1 hour. I will shampoo with one of your shampoo bars that I ordered also.
Can I use the Cocoveda oil to mix with my henna? I usually use olive oil and honey.
Thanks,
Thank you JoLindy for your post.
I’m so glad you love it. Usually anyone who tries it completely falls for it 100%. Yes you can absolutely add some Cocoveda to your henna recipe. Enjoy!
Hi, I recently started using this product to nourish my fine flat hair, because I was experiencing a LOT of hair fall and was desperate.
I am so happy with this product, it’s a complete miracle how it has transformed my hair. Althought I can’t leave it in as it weighs my hair down too much.
I was wondering tho, everyone here says it smells awesome, like sweet coconut.. But mine smells awful, I’m wondering if something happened while it was shipping here? Does it go rancid if mistreated?
Hi Jess
Thank you for your post. I thought we added a reply here but it must have not gone through. Sometimes if left in for long, like all day long it can smell oddly on warm days especially. Is this is the case of its use? But out of the bottle no there shouldn’t be any odd scent to it. Just a sweet coconut scent.
Hello,
I noticed there are lots of herbs in this oil that promote hair growth. What has been the feedback from customers with regards to increased hair growth? Was it significant? I’m looking to speed mine up.
I am confused…do I oil my hair, and leave it in, prior to using henna?…
Hello Cathy
Some of our clients do pre-oil especially if their hair is very dry. So it’s optional and up to your hair type. I hope this answer helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Hi, I recently used Henna/indigo on my hair. Now that I found out about Amla, I’d like to give it a try. So, I’d like to know how long do I need to wait before I could use Henna/Amla on my hair. And how often?
Sandy, so you’d like to know when to do a second application? In general you can give your hair at least every 2-3 weeks for regular treatments so you don’t dry your hair out. Some can do a root touch up more often if it’s for color and their hair grows quickly. But with all herbs just be careful not to do them so often that you dry out your hair. I hope this helps
Seeing as there is henna in the ingredients of Cocoveda, will this stain my hair colour? I am a natural light blonde and I used to use henna but grew out my natural colour. I do NOT want to go through the whole regrowing process again.
The extraction of oil from the henna plant does not pull color or dye from the extraction, so it’s just the oil, and it won’t color your hair. I hope this helps 🙂
