Thank you for entering our contest, and sharing your natural hair care regimen with us. Tess, has submitted this on behalf of her sister.

I found this an amazing example of what cassia can do to your hair!! Truly amazing, and beautiful.

Catherine’s Story:

My sister recently tried Cassia for the first time on her blond hair.

We used:

  • 100g Cassia
  • 2 TBS bottled lemon juice in a glass measuring cup, then added filtered water to the lemon to 1.25 cups total, combined
  • Decided it was still too thick, and added 2 more TBS filtered water

We mixed it up & let the dye release about 12 hours in a warm, wood-stove-heated room.

Then added additional small amounts of filtered water until we decided it was yogurt consistency.

I pasted it on her hair using mostly a rubber scraper, and my gloved hands. I started at the nape of the neck, and worked up with small sections of hair at a time. This took 45min to 1 hour.

We covered it with a disposable shower cap, and wrapped it in a towel.

After 5+ hours including a nap, she showered it out with lots of conditioner.

In the before & after pictures, on the left is the “control”… this is my other sister who did nothing to her hair. This was to see if any color changes were just due to lighting, and as you can see….. there were much more yellow tones in both sisters in the before, so that was just lighting. The one on the right did the Cassia treatment. It appears to have weighed down her waves/curls, though she had combed through it in the “after”, which also straightens it out. Note the lovely shine in the after pic. We think her natural color is slightly brightened though the change is subtle, but due to lighting in the pic, you can’t really tell that. She is happy with the results and looks forward to doing it again. 🙂 She was looking mostly for the hair health benefits, and wanted the thickening that Cassia offers. She finds her hair does look & feel healthier now.

She eventually wants to try red for a while, before cutting her hair short….. so we’ll be trying some henna soon! She is also very interested in the benefits of amla, so we’ll be having lots of fun with plant powders. 🙂

Thanks, Henna Sooq!
