I am hispanic with dark tied curls. I am thinking of using indigo only because I suspect this may be the best to cover my grey hair (which is mainly on crown). I would love to also use the Red Raj henna powder for highlights. should I do the indigo first and then the Red Raj? any input will be appreciated
thanks
Jackie
Hi Jackie. You can’t use indigo first without using henna. If you use indigo alone it’ll make your hair green. Do you want red tones or black tones? or in between?
I’m getting ready to try a new kind of henna, and am hoping you could suggest the best variety for loosening curl patterns. (I like the color benefit as well, but my hair is so dark that it only ever gets a reddish tint, so relaxation of curls is my number one priority.)
Thanks!
I am only using indigo because I have some grey hair by the temple area. I want red tones, but definetely not a red head. I guess red highlights. thanks
Hi P. All henna powders loosen curl patterns. You’ll get this with any henna you choose but for best results with color as well you’ll love our Red Raj ! http://www.hennasooq.com/red-raj
Jackie, you can’t use indigo on it’s own though as it’ll make your hair green or blue toned. You must use henna with the indigo meaning even if you want black tones, you use henna first and then indigo as the second step.
It sounds like to me, you’re using indigo alone in all applications during and before or after without any henna in your process. Is this right? What color did you want exactly?
thanks; here it is …what is the best way to cover grey hair using Henna and indigo in either one or 2 step process? my hair is dark chocolate with natural red undertone which I like. so my first goal is to cover the grey (temple area)and second desire is to have the red highlights? thanks again
Good day Jackie! Did you want your grey hairs to come out reddish as well? Because if so with just henna like our REd Raj you’ll get a nice reddish tone that would work with your natural hair color đŸ™‚
I think I am going to mix 50 % of REd Raj and 50% indigo. that way the grey hair would be darker (wine). thanks
Welcome! Let us know how it turns out
Hello, I have used henna off and on for the past 20 yrs. I currently have Lush’s Caca Brun on my hair which I have used the last 2 applications. I would love to try your Red Raj. It looks like such a beautiful red color. Should I wait for most of the Indigo that is used in Caca Brun to release before I switch to Red Raj? Or can I just use Red Raj over the top of what I currently have? I don’t want to be two toned, if I can avoid it. Thank you!
I have used Red Raj on top of many layers of Lush Caca Marroon. It is fine. It just makes the red more subtle as my hair is pretty dark. My greys are very red but mainly noticeable in bright sunlight.

I agree with Linda. đŸ™‚ I hope this helps Lavender. Thanks Linda for your advice!
I love Red Raj!!! but I ask myself why some people get rich red tones with red raj and why I get more dark orange tones I mean ÉI get the exact same color as your photo up above?
July it depends on the natural hair tone and if they use any other herbs in their recipe or not.
thanks !! đŸ™‚ it’s like body art I alsways get orange stain because of my type of skin!! :))
July,
How do you prepare the Red Raj and your hair? I got a med bright red on my greys (which are white)mixed with hennaed med ash brown from Red Raj 2012 (hennaed 2-3 days ago). I mixed my henna (200g) with 2-3TBS of sukesh) to mashed potato consistency with warm chamomile tea and allowed it to release somewhere warm for 2 hours. Then, I placed the paste in the freezer. The next day, I defrosted the RR in warm water, added lavender EO, aloe juice, Mustard oil and marshmallow+fenugreek water (to create a paste-like consistency)and applied right away on dry hair (I usually apply to damp hair, but I was lazy that day! Haha!). I covered the hennaed hair in plastic wrap, then a warm woolly hat, kept everything warm and left the paste on for 4 hours.
Washed the paste out with water and conditioned.
