Introducing Henna Sooq’s new Shampoo Bar line! In our effort to continue providing the safest, natural hair care products, we consulted with a professional soap & skincare maker to create this luxurious alternative to synthetic, toxic shampoos. Our Shampoo Bars are handcrafted in small batches for freshness, using only 100% natural oils, butters, organic herbs & pure essential oils. Custom formulated by Henna Sooq, you won’t find these shampoo and soap combinations anywhere else!
Why use Henna Sooq shampoo bars?
- 100% Natural. Commercial shampoos are not – they’re actually synthetic detergents!
- Vegan & Biodegradable. Safe for you and the environment. Comes packaged in a soap box that is 100% recyclable.
- Handcrafted in USA. Making each bar a unique piece of art as well as a fabulously moisturizing cleanser. Makes a perfect gift!
- Shampoo bars will not strip the natural oils from your hair.
- Ayurvedic – unique Indian herbal & oil combinations
- Doubles as a body soap! Why buy 2 products when this gentle, creamy cleanser can be used from head to toe? Gentle enough to use on young children.
- pH Balanced
- No SLS (sodium laurel sulfate) or foam boosters. These are usually used to create the illusion of an expensive, high quality shampoo, but in fact it dries out skin and hair, irritates the scalp & can cause hair loss. Our shampoo bars only contain natural, safe ingredients that nourish, strengthen and cleanse the hair and scalp.
- No preservatives
- No detergents
- No petroleum based oils
- No residue. Commercial detergent shampoos do leave a chemical residue in your hair. That is why they recommend you switch brands of shampoo every few months!
- Ideal for travel. Made with only moisturizing oils, our shampoo bars are easy to cut into small pieces to use as your shampoo & soap when travelling, on vacation, at school, work & the gym.
Using a shampoo bar
- Wet your hair thoroughly. You can place the bar directly onto your hair, and move from the top to the bottom to get the shampoo bar all over your scalp, and length without tangles. Or, you can rub the shampoo bar in your hands and get it well lathered, then apply directly from your hands onto your scalp (this method is ideal if you have curly hair, and want to rub the shampoo into your hair with your hands in such a way as to avoid tangles and breakage), and down through your length. Wash out thoroughly.
- Be sure to wash your scalp really well.
- You can follow up with a lemon juice and water rinse or ACV (apple cider vinegar) rinse to help with tangles and/or to neutralize the cleansing. It’s also okay to use conditioner after using our shampoo bars.
- The shampoo bar should last about 1 month or so, depending on how often it is used. Let it dry out between uses on a well draining rack away from the flow of water. If it sits in a pool of water or if water runs over it, your shampoo bar will quickly dissolve.
- You can use our shampoo bars on color-treated, and/or permed hair
- Make sure you use your shampoo bar that you selected for at least a week, so that it removes any residues from commercial shampoos (should this apply), before deciding if this shampoo is right for you or not.
After using our shampoo bars, you hair will feel refreshingly cleaner, and softer. All the beneficial ingredients in our shampoo bars will also moisturize your hair, strengthen it, and enable it to grow richer, and fuller.
very very informative blog keep it up! Men and women these days who suffer from hair loss are usually so intent on finding a baldness cure prevention methods, they will try almost everything. there are some more therapies such as herbal, hair transplantation and some hair retain pills, stem cell therapy. its hard to find a good one and this one really best of them.
Instructions given said not to wash the full length of your hair but to wash only the scalp, how does one do this with hair that can only be brushed?
Thanks for your post Akeema
I’m not sure I fully understand your question as to why you wouldn’t wash the full length with the bar, and what it has to do with brushing it. With curly hair, we don’t want to rub the bar into the hair as that would cause tangles. Generally what I do personally, is I concentrate on my scalp area, as with other people that I tell to do this, and then run my hands down the length of my hair so it does get all cleansed really well without making it tangly.
I hope this helps! Let me know
I love the shampoo bar you gave me Khadija..it leaves my hair so soft and it smells SOOOOOOOOOOOOO yummy 🙂
I’m going to try some Argan oil soon …i think i need more pampering for my hair and body as well.
Thanx so much
xox
Welcome Shaista! So glad you liked it 🙂
Gonna try it later. Hope I can have a good come out.
Just popping in after a month of using the bar you gave me.
It smells and feels so great I haven’t been able to put it down! From my experience with solid shampoo, this is usually not a smart idea… but I have yet to have waxy hair from this one! Super special soapnut powers?
Needless to say, my hair and scalp are as thrilled as I am with this unexpected relief from Cypriot climate and shampoos.
Thanks Khadija!
Catherine
Thanks Catherine! So glad you liked it. The soapnuts are amazing, and we got really good quality ones and added them to those shampoo bars.
Hope you are having a great time overseas!!
Hi Khadija…is it possible to make liquid shampoos? I think that you chose solid bars because its easier to preserve them in dry form. I was wondering if it could be made available in small enough pieces that can be desolved in a liquid for single use?
I don’t want to rub my hair a lot, thats why I’d be very glad for a liquid. I can of course lather it in my hands and then apply to hair but I’ve had that experience with previous soaps and its an annoying experience
Thank you for your post Hafsa
It is possible to make liquid soaps/shampoos but at this time we are not carrying that product as we chose to make handcrafted shampoo bars as they are easy to travel with, have great extra oils for moisturization and work great for shaving smoother too. We adore our bars. Perhaps in the future we might carry this.
Hi, I want to love my shampoo bar but my hair feels ‘icky’ is this because I’m not carrying out a lemon or acv rinse?
Thank you Eve for your post. Mine can feel icky too with the ACV or a conditioner afterwards. If you’re hair is on the oilier side then you have to add the ACV or conditioner as part of your regimen when washing your hair. I hope this helps!
Is it okay to use the cocoveda shampoo bar everyday for cleansing hair?
Neelu thank you for your post. It is but if you’re hair is on the oilier side you may need to do an ACV or conditioner afterwards to neutralize the shampoo bar and any build up. But if you’re on the drier side you should be ok. Enjoy!
I just bought the Sweet Honey shampoo bar and I LOVE IT. IT smells delicious and my hair already feels different, and I’ve only washed it once. I was wondering, though, how often hair should be washed using a shampoo bar? I’m definitely excited about using it, so I want to make sure I don’t overdo it. 🙂
Thank you Hannah! It’s one of our favorites as well. My hubby really loves that one. You should wash it as often as you normally do. It does depend on your hair type. For more oily hair every1-2 days, for normal every 2-3 days, and dry hair about 3-5 days or so. Thanks for letting us know!
Hi, I’m new to your website. I just ordered some Jamilla henna powder (from you) after being highly recommended by the ladies at curlynikki.com..I’m interested in your natural shampoo bars. However, my hair is relaxed. I relax 3 times a year. Is your shampoo bar good for relaxed hair?
KImberly welcome to our blog! Tell them I said Thank you!!
Yes our shampoo bars are good for your hair, and are even better then any other shampoo you may be using. Ours are sulfate free and are all handmade and natural. So we choose the ingredients to make the best shampoos. You can try the samples as we do have small sample sizes as well. You’ll love them!
Thank you for the prompt response! I can’t wait to try your products. I’m trying to go natural but it’s a long process. However, with the wealth of information your website has provided I think I may be able to transition very easily. Thanks again!
Welcome!
Hi, I have dandruff can you please suggest me a shampoo bar, I have wavy to curly black hair and I am planning to use Henna too, Is the organic rajasthani henna good for me, will it change my black hair color to red? I would just like my hair to have only a dark brown shade when in sunlight. Please advise I am from Calgary and just loved your website and blog.
Jasmine, thanks for your post. How often do you wash your hair? Henna for sure will get rid of your dandruff so that’s my first recommendation. Yes it’ll change your dark hair slightly red. If you allow it to build up over time, meaning do several consistent applications the henna on your hair will deepen to a redder tone, and be more visible. As at first it’ll be seen mainly in the sun. If you want dark brown you’ll need to use indigo in your recipe then.
PS, Jasmine, you can use our berhempsu bar or moroccan clay. If your hair is oily then maybe the sweet honey and if it’s on the drier side then use our Cocoveda bar
what is a good medium brown henna for my hair with little to no red
and I am also 60% grey
also is there a neutral henna just for shine?
or is amla powder better for that?
Thanks for your post Lisa.
The neutral henna which is cassia obovata gives you all the benefits of henna but without the color change unless you have grey or blond then it would add a golden tone to your hair but it’s like a semi-permanent. For the tone you’d like you’d be using henna and indigo. Use at least 60% indigo and 40% henna for a medium brown tone. Amla powder is good for adding volume to your hair or maintain curl patterns for curly hair, and promoting hair growth. It also tones down the red of henna
I’d like to try your shampoo bars, but I’m not sure which one to use. My hair is dead straight and very fine. It is currently dyed with henna. It’s quite short, and currently I wash it every other day with commercial shampoo. I don’t use conditioner other than after dying with henna. It is not dry, or frizzy, or oily, or anything. It’s just normal. I am worried because a lot of the shampoo bars seem to be formulated for dry hair or normal to dry, and I don’t want my hair to end up being too oily!
Hi Alex, thank you for posting.
With your hair type you’d probably have to follow up with an ACV rinse. You’ll have to neutralize it or it’ll build up too much or some condition afterwards. Sweet Honey isn’t too heavy. Or you can try Moroccan Clay as well.
Hi, the length of my hair also feels “icky” and it is difficult to comb through after I use my shampoo bar. I am using conditioner, could that be the source of my problems?
Good morning Veronica. Thanks for posting. Do you have oily hair? How long have you been using your shampoo bar? It might also be that you need to use a different shampoo bar. I wouldn’t think personally it would be your conditioner as sometimes that balances things out. Have you tried an ACV rinse?
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I’d say I have pretty normal hair, not too oily or dry. I’m using the moroccan clay bar. I’ll try the ACV rinse and see if that works.
Just wanted to let you know, I tried it again, and this time I more thoroughly shampooed the length, and followed with an ACV rinse, and that seemed to do the trick! Hair is very soft and manageable now.
Morning Veronica. YEAH! I am so happy to hear. Thank you for giving it another try. Sometimes it actually takes about a week or so to adjust to the shampoo bar as well. So happy to hear!
Hi Khadija, like a previous poster said I also have relaxed afro hair and I’m wondering what soap bar might be best for me? I have long, fine textured hair, but a thick head of it. I need something really moisturizing because it gets dry easily, but something that cleans well because I like to use alot of oils. Also something that might be really good at detangling my hair would be useful. I’m still trying to figure out what products work well for my hair and haven’t found anything I really like anywhere for shampoo.
Thank you for your post Mel.
For a good cleansing bar our Soapnut shampoo bar is excellent. If you want moisturizing and strengthening then Cocoveda Shampoo bar is good. For detangling our Cocoveda Hair oil or our Organic Argan Oil are perfect!! Love those and we use those regular in our house.
I tried the argan shampoo bar, but it left my hair very oily. It was too oily and I had to go back to my old shampoo. I was wondering if this was normal? I want to be able to use only these shampoo bars. But my hair came out so oily I could not leave my home like this…
Also, I was wondering if it is normal it really does not lather. I didn’t know if it was cleaning or not because I didn’t feel anything on my hair. But when I was done, it was completely. oily. Any advice?
Thank you for your post help.
It can happen for some people. Did you use ACV or conditioner afterwards to neutralize the shampoo bar?
Yes it’s normal that it doesn’t have a strong lather, but it should be a mild lather as there are no foam boosters or agents to create foaming.
Hi!
I was just wondering why the shampoo bars have to be ‘neutralized’ with an ACV rinse if they’re already PH-balanced. What are we neutralizing?
I’m just trying to get a better idea of how they work, as I’m not keen on opening up my hair cuticle just to have to seal it again with ACV (my hair is still very delicate from an illness and I’m worried for it, lol).
Thanks for your time!
Thank you for your message on our blog Cait. It also depends a lot on the person’s hair type. That is why they have to neutralize as some have oily hair types and the shampoo bars are sometimes too oily for some. They are pH balanced but some hair types need ACV and others don’t. I’d really recommend just trying samples to be sure of which one would work for you before committing to a full bar 🙂 I hope this helps
What is the exact ph of your shampoo bars?
Claudia, they do vary. Please email them directly at info@hennasooq.com for that information.
