I started henna-ing my hair from blonde to a nice copper almost a year ago. I’ve used exclusively hennasooqs red raj and cassia. My mixture is as follows:
150 grams red raj
50 grams cassia
I add enough distilled, warmed water to get a brownie batter like consistency. Then I squirt in about 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. I mix it all together and let it dye release for six hours, then apply as needed and leave it on for six hours.
My mix is pretty basic, but it’s yielded me amazing Christina Hendricks colored copper hair, and there is next to no fade. Hennasooq girl for life.
I use a package of 100 g of Red Raj henna. I mix it with roobios tea (very strong mixture, 1/4 cup of it) and dried hibiscus petals (also very strong, I usually use about 10 to 12 petals). I also add Henna Sooq’s hibiscus powder, just a tbsp or two to my henna to make sure I have a lot of extra red to the mixture. I do not add any essential oils. I boil the water then add to the henna a little at a time until I get a good consistency, about that of pancake mix. I let it sit for 4 hours then apply to my hair and let it sit for another 8 to 10 hours, sometimes more. Then I wash it out with conditioner.
I do my henna touch-ups every other week. I only need to do my roots, but every other application I apply more and leave it on longer. My recipe is to mix a package of red raj with enough green tea, about one cup, until it turns into a pudding like consistency. I make the green tea pretty strong with two tea bags and let it cool down a bit before mixing. I’ve tried adding lemon or using chamomile tea but I like the results better with just green tea. I let it sit for about four hours to develop and then apply it to my roots. I let it sit on my hair for at least two hours and every other application I leave it on overnight. Red raj is by far the best henna I’ve ever used.
I steep two bags each of nettle tea and rosemary tea in 16 ounces of boiling water. I use these two teas to increase follicle stimulation. I let the tea cool down a bit and then slowly add the tea to a 100 gram package of Red Raj. I also add Sandalwood powder….. Mmmmm nice smell. After mixing I always tend to have lumps so I use my stick blender to get all the lumps out. I let the mixture sit for 4 hrs sometimes I freeze it to enhance the henna or just use it. I also add xantham gum after dye release to keep it from dripping. I leave on hair for 6 hrs wrapped in Press and seal which is awesome. I rinse and condition with the sweet honey nourisher under the steamer. After rinsing that out I put cocoveda on my hair and twist my hair.
#hennasooq is the best
Red Raj is my new favorite henna powder for both hair and mehndi. My favorite hair recipe is as follows:
– 60g Red Raj
– 60g indigo
– 30g Sukesh Ayurveda powder
– strong coffee
– 1/2 t ground cloves
I mix the Red Raj with enough brewed strong coffee to make a paste, and let sit (usually under my blanket) during the day. Then when I get home, I mix the indigo with enough water to achieve a paste, and then mix this in with the Red Raj paste. I add the Sukesh Ayurveda powder and the ground cloves to the mix along with a bit more water so the paste isn’t to dry. Then I let it sit about 1/2 hour longer while I prepare the bathroom, get towels, gloves, etc.
Next, I put the mix into a big squeeze bottle (also purchased from Henna Souq) and apply it, then wrap my hair in plastic wrap and a warm towel. I leave the henna mix on my hair for 4-6 hours before rinsing out.
The results are a beautiful shade of chestnut brown with red highlights, especially outdoors. When the indigo fades a bit, my hair has a definite reddish tint that looks natural. The addition of the Sukesh powder also makes my hair feel stronger and always conditioned. I also love the smell of the clove powder in this recipe. I am going to substitute cardamom for the cloves next time for a new twist!
Thanks, Henna Souq! #hennasouq
I use two bags each of Nettle and Rosemary tea to 16 ounces of distilled water(boiling). I let the tea steep for 30 minutes to an hour. If the tea is too cool I microwave it so it will be very warm. I use these teas for follicular stimulation. I mix the tea into Red Raj . I always have lumps so I use my stick blender to make it smooth. I add sandalwood powder ….. Mmmm it smells so good. I let the henna sit for 4 hours for dye release sometimes I freeze it to enhance the color and use it the next day. I add xanthum gum after the dye release to stop the drips (1tsp). I then put the Red Raj in my hair and wrap it with Press and Seal and wait for 6 hours. I rinse and cowash and steam with # hennasooq honey enriched conditioner. After steaming I rinse and use # henna sooq cocoveda and twist my hair.

My recipe changes a little each time, but my favorite mix lately is Organic Rajasthani Henna from Henna Sooq mixed with a cup of warm (not hot) tea – raspberry hibiscus tea or lemon “zinger”. I mix in a splash of lemon juice, a little cinnamon, and occasionally a pinch of either ground cloves or ginger. I leave it on my head for about 4 hours, or longer if I can stand it. It comes out a very vibrant red that darkens and cools just a little to a pretty burgundy that’s warmer and pretty bright in the sun. My natural color is a medium/light brown.
My very favorite Henna Sooq powder is the Yemeni henna, such a beautiful red! But I found that the Rajasthan Henna is also nice for a slightly cooler, deep red. I’m hoping to try the lovely vibrant looking Red Raj. 🙂 Love henna.
#hennasooq
My henna mix consists of 100g of henna and a half of cup of powdered hisbiscus. I boil some hisbiscus tea to mix my henna with to a yogurt consistency. Once the dye has released I apply to clean hair and allow it to marinate on my hair for 4 to 5 hours.
I Henna monthly and my recipe consists of …
1 pkt of Henna Sooq Organic Rajasthani Henna & 1 pkt of Yemeni Henna or Red Raj
1 Can Coconut Milk (13.5oz)
1/4 cup Full Fat Yogurt
3 Tbs Honey
Stir and add Distilled H2O until the consistency of pudding.
Cover with plastic, seal and freeze until ready for use.
When ready, unthaw, add honey, hempseed oil (4 Tbs)
Cleanse with ACV/H2O mix and Terressentials mud wash.
Leave on overnight. I have started doing full strength Henna on the first 4 inches and Glosses on the length. I love Henna from Henna Sooq!!! Provides beautiful color, condition and rinses well.
I Henna my hair 1x per month religiously, never fail! I love all that Henna has to offer, the vibrant color, the strength and nourishment…Henna is divine gift from Mother-Nature!!!
My Henna recipe is simple, yet effective:
100 gr. Henna (Red Raj or Yemeni)
1 TBSP Beet Root Powder
1 TBSP Hibiscus Petal Powder
12 oz. Hibiscus Tea (warm, cooled, slightly above room temperature)
15 -20 drops Ravensara Essential Oil
Place all herbs in a sifter and thoroughly sift them into a large bowl, slowly add tea and mix until a thick cake batter consistency, finally add essential oil and let sit for 12 hours for dye release. Apply Henna paste to freshly washed hair to reap maximum dye uptake…wrap with saran wrap as well as placing a plastic conditioning cap on top of that and let sit at least 4 hours to overnight. Thoroughly rinse until water runs clear, then co-wash and deep condition…voila, rich, vibrant, beautiful strong hair!!!
My recipe uses a mixture of Jamila henna and Indigo
200g Jamila henna
50-100g Indigo depending on how Red I want to go.
Take henna powder, add 1 TBSP (or more) cinnamon and mix well (dry). For liquid, I like to use a 2:1 dilution of 2 parts Lemon Juice and 1 part distilled H2O. Make your dilution and then gradually mix liquid into powder until you have a “mashed potato” consistency. Cover with plastic wrap and set in warm room temp over night. After henna dye is released either be prepared to use or freeze.
Take Indigo, just prior to use and gradually mix in H2O until you have “mashed potato” consistency.
Blend henna and Indigo mixtures well and then apply as usual to hair. Cover with plastic, wrap with towel and keep in hair at least 6-8 hours or overnight.
#hennasooq Can’t wait to try the Red Raj!
I really have to root touch-up bi-weekly or more. Red Raj is the best but I’ve been using Henna Sooq’s Jamilia while waiting for the Raj to arrive – YEAH it’s here!!! – Come to Mama!!
1. Steep small handful of hibiscus leaves to darkest color but should be warm enough to mix though. (Sometimes I will use paprika and no hibiscus powder).
2. Add HennaSooq’s Organic Hibiscus powder to tea.
3. Add both to dry henna and add extra warm water to batter texture. (I don’t use metal bowls or spoons when mixing).
4. Saran wrap and place in direct sun or over pot of simmered hot water, 3-4+ hours, for dye release.
5. Apply with Henna Sooq’s plastic cones, which I find best for root application), Saran wrap hair, cover with a plastic conditioner cap, cover that with aluminum foil (to reflect heat back into the hair) and finally a winter cap.
6. I only leave on about an hour because I don’t want the color on my grey roots to go ORANGE. If the roots are still too bright, I will do a light and short Indigo to the front to darken the orange.
With Red Raj I will be able to leave the henna baking a little longer and my roots will be a normal red color with the awesome benefits of great healthy soft hair.
#hennasooq
My henna recipe varies. Sometimes I do 100% henna, and sometimes I do 50% henna 50% cassia. I always use herbal tea as my liquid (currently I have Celestial Seasonings Raspberry Zinger) and I squirt in the juice of a lemon if I have it on hand. After the henna is ready, I add in coconut oil that has been soaking in fenugreek (methi) seeds. As far as brands/types of henna, I’ve used Dulhan a lot as a local option, and from henna sooq, I’ve bought organic Rajasthani, Red Raj, Jamila, and Morrocan henna. I most recently bought Morrocan henna and organic indigo, and I did my first henndigo. My recipe was the same; after my henna was ready, I mixed up a tiny bit of indigo with warm water and then combined the two. I love the color!

I love doing henna every 4 to 6 weeks depending upon my schedule to cover my greys as well as conditioning, strengthening my hair.
My recipe is as follows:
100gms Hennasooq’s Fresh Organic Rajasthani Indian Henna
Powder.
50 gms Hennasooq’s Organic Amla Powder
1 tbsp Hennasooq’s Bhringraj powder
1 tbsp Hennasooq’s Brahmi powder
2 tbsp Hennasooq’s organic Aloe vera powder
Warm Black tea to make the henna paste of yoghurt consitency.
I let the recipe sit for 10-12 hrs on the counter.
I love the earthy smell of henna..Apply on head overnight
covered with saran wrap and wool cap.
Wash it next morning till the water runs clean.
Instead of co-washing..I apply Hennasooq’s organic Amla oil
for next 24 hours to moisturize and wash it the next day with
shampoo.
Hair looks so vibrant, soft with lot of shine and strength.
I have buildup a burgundy tone after so many application.
My current recipe with Red Raj:
100 g Red Raj
4 TBSP apple cider vinegar (to help cover the gray)
4 TBSP Sukesh Ayurveda (for my hair’s health)
4 TBSP Hibiscus powder (to make it even redder)
4 TBSP Amla (to help keep the wave in my hair)
1 TBSP powdered ginger (for the smell)
I add double-strength Red Zinger tea to the powder mixture as needed, and then let it sit covered with plastic wrap for 4 hours for dye release. After putting the henna on my hair, I wrap (plastic wrap), wrap (shower cap), wrap (old t-shirt turban) to keep the henna on my head protected and nice and warm. After 3-4 hours, I dunk my head in a plastic water basin (with several water changes) to rinse out most of the henna. This makes the rinse out in the shower easier. After the rinse, I deep condition for several minutes.
This recipe makes enough for two treatments (my hair is in the short side). I pop the extra in the freezer–having it on hand and ready to go makes the whole process less time intensive (at least every other time!). I keep track of my recipes because I like to tweak them and experiment.
I have chemically-colored my hair in many different shades of red family for many many years and finally decided to make a healthier choice. After trying several other brands of henna, I have happily settled in with the wonderful choices from Henna Sooq. The color I achieve with Red Raj is gorgeous–it never fades like the chemical colors did. It takes a bit more effort but it is so worth it!
#HennaSooq I Henna my hair 1x per month religiously, never fail! I love all that

#hennasooq After 10 years of trying to grow out a pixie haircut, I was finally successful after I stopped dying my hair and switched to henna. My hair is now healthy and shiny. I always use red raj because it does the best job of coloring my stubborn white hairs. I mix a package of red raj with cooled tea that contains a few drops of lavender essential oil. I let it develop and then apply it to my roots and leave it on overnight. I sleep with a dark towel over my pillow in case their is any leakage so that I don’t ruin my pillowcase or pillow. In the morning the color is perfect when I rinse it off!
#hennasooq
Brew black tea and mix it with 100g Jamila henna. After the color releases, add:
2 oz coconut oil
2 tbsp honey
4 oz yogurt
Apply and leave on head overnight. Cover with saran wrap and wool cap. Wash the next morning until the water runs clean. Then cowash for beautiful hair!
Supplies:
1 large plastic mixing bowl
1 large plastic mixing spatula or wooden spoon
1 box Raj Red henna
3 tbs apple cider vinegar
1/8 cup coconut oil (liquified)
1/8 cup warm coconut milk
1 tbs pure raw honey
1/2 cup very hot water
Pour henna powder, coconut oil, coconut milk, apple cider vinegar, and honey in mixing bowl. Fold together gently. Slowly add hot water to mixture. Stir mixture briskly while adding hot water until mixture has the consistency of pancake batter. Once the desired consistency has been reached, cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Set in a warm environment for 1 to 2 hours to allow dye to release. Paste is ready to apply to hair when dark band of dye has formed on the top of the mixture. I allow paste to stay on my hair overnight. I LOVE the results!!!

Hi Henna Sooq! I’d love to try Red Raj and maybe it’s not too late to submit a recipe:)
First of all, I love Jamila Henna Powder – it’s of great quality, fresh and very fine grounded (which is REALLY important as nobody want to clog their bathroom while washing off the henna:)
So I use henna in the following way:
100 g of Jamila Henna Powder
3 TBSP Hibiscus Petal Powder (for conditioning and shining)
2 TBSP Ginger Powder (for nice smell)
Juice of one Lemon (for redder color)
I’ve been using henna for 10 years and love it! Thanks #hennasooq, you are really the best!
My recipe is pretty basic. I use a 100G bag of Red Raj and mix it with hot chamomile tea. I let that sit for about 4 hours or so. Then when I’m ready to use it I add a few TBS of Hibiscus powder & Sukesh powder and finally a healthy serving of Amla to help my curls retain their bounce. Henna really relaxes my curls. I usually sleep in my henna over night and rinse in the morning to find all my grey hair gone!
