Jamila henna powder. Where we do we start regarding such a fabulous henna powder? Top of the line, high quality Jamila henna powder.
Abid and Co. is the company that owns, fields, and prepares Jamila henna powder. Just for us, they take their henna leaves and create the most finely sifted henna powder that turns creamy, and rich almost like melted chocolate. But please! Don’t eat it! They put it into perfectly labelled boxes, and inside foil wrappers. This fully protects the henna powder, and ensures freshness. Then they even stamp the premium crop blend with the Summer Crop and current year it is from.
Unfortunately there is controversy that surrounds, and sours this amazing henna powder. Just a little bit. Just enough to have blogs, posts, and emails all about it. Wondering what it really is? Or does it have a new name? Is it a new product? Is this really all a marketing ploy? How many different types of Jamila henna are there? We have to use our best judgement, and take the facts and make our own individual decisions on those questions.
It went so far that last year for the first time, Abid and Co. had to place red printing on the foil packages so we could see it was their Jamila henna powder. Now even further, they decided to add the crop year in the red printing. Last year there was no year marked on the foil packages. We feel that in order to stop these issues, and to clarify things, Abid and Co. had to take further steps and add the 2009 year onto the red printing we find.
This is what you will find on this year’s Summer Crop 2009 packages.
Jamila henna powder will come in two qualities. Jamila henna for hair and Jamila Summer Crop (year marked).
- Jamila henna for hair. This henna comes packaged inside a clear cellophane package, inside of a sealed, plain Jamila box that is marked inside with “Henna for Hair“. There will be no date marked on the box. The sift is a lesser quality, but still much better then store bought quality sifts. The henna leaves chosen for this quality are from leaves that are lower on the henna plant. The dye content is not as high as the premium quality Jamila henna. It is popular for hair usage.
- Jamila Summer Crop (2009, or year marked). This quality is used by professional henna artists, and is very popular amongst natural hair care lovers. This henna powder is the most finely sifted of the two varieties of Jamila henna powder available, and contains the best leaves of the henna plant that contain the most dye content. It currently comes in foil packaging that is marked in red “premium quality JAMILA henna 2009” inside of a sealed, shiny Jamila box.
Abid and Co., have also helped out this year, to give back to the community. We have been giving out free samples to those suffering from Hand Foot Syndrome (due to certain cancer drugs) for quite some time now. Please read: Henna Bringing Relief to Cancer Patients.Jamila henna powder has been the best choice to help with Hand Foot Syndrome.
They have helped out the community by donating 10 kgs of Jamila henna powder, Summer Crop 2008. We want to thank them for their donation! We wish them success in their business. They have paid it forward, now we will do our part to pay it forward.
I recently bought 3 boxes of Jamila Superior Quality Haircolor. It comes in a clear cellophane plastic package, there is no date stamp anywhere. My concern is with ‘superior quality haircolor’ mark on the box, I read somewhere how it is or this could be fake, can u please help shed some light on this. I want to henna, but want to ensure this is legit. TIA
Thank you Leentora. The Jamila hair quality is the box who have since it has a cellophane wrapping. It’s not fake. It’s real henna powder and the company that makes it is amazing! They also have another quality of jamila which are the summer crops, stamped and in foiled packages. This is the best quality of Jamila henna powder they have since henna artist also use it for Body Art. But the Jamila who have it okay to use for hair, and it’s hair quality henna powder. Enjoy!
wow thanks for the quick response. I forgot to mention that there is a color chart on the side of the box, which states if ur hair is a certain color, the results u will get according to ur oringal hair color and time required. I am dble checking that this is good stuff, especially because it says ‘haircolor’ and it has the color chart on the side of the box. Sorry 4 being a pain with all the questions. TIA for ur help!
sorry my last my reply did not quite ask my last concern, is the haircolor jamila, tend to come with a color chart on the side of the box?
Leentora, no the jamila and most henna powders don’t come with a color chart on the boxes. The company you bought it from might provide a color chart on their website or their information sheets they send you. The tone for Jamila for hair is usually a reddish tone, or orangey on grey hairs. BAQ Jamila summer crops are usually more of a cool red.

Rashi, does your henna have the date in black on the very bottom of your box?
where in Bangalore, India, I can get the Jamilia Henna?
Hai am a mehendi designer from Kerala.how can i get ur henna powder..
I am about to use the Jamila Henna for the first time. I have read all I can on what to do. I want to add the indigo to tone down the red a bit (unsure if it is necessary). Is Jamila very red? I also want to add the sugar and Amla powder to the henna. Could I add yogurt or Amla oil to the henna ….or should I apply the Amla Oil to the hair afterwards. I also read where you can pre oil your hair as well.
I hope I am not doing too much! I read you add a pinch of salt to the Indigo (which is 15-20mins before applying)
WHEW! I think I got it!
Please advise.
Hello Shaun. Thank you for your message on our blog.
Jamila is a soft red tone. We other henna powders that contain more dye content.
You can add those dry ingredients to your recipe. We wouldn’t recommend yoghurt being added as that’s a heavy liquid. Read more here: http://www.hennasooq.com/hair-care-tips/
Salt being added to the indigo can help the indigo cling better especially more so if you have hard to color hair.
I would like to buy your Premium Quality Henna for my hair. Please advise from where can I get it in India (Delhi).
Looking for your earliest response.

Hi. I want to purchase the body quality henna for my hair. I do not want to darken my hair I just want to add red tones. The last henna I bought was from rehma and the color rouge. It darkend my hair with burgundy subtle lights. But i dont want any darkening at all. Does the body art quality henna from jamila darken at all or just add the red tones?
Hi Nadia. Thank you for your message on our blog. Some henna powder can darken. Jamila henna not as much as indian henna powders but to tone down the red to a more red-copper tone, you should add some cassia obovata to your recipe and perhaps a touch of honey. View our color charts here: http://www.hennasooq.com/color/red-tones/
I hope this helps.
