Henna Wash Day

Henna Wash Day

The rituals of henna will soothe your soul, heart and mind. Your hair wash day is part of self love and care that we all need to indulge in more often. I’m sharing one of my favorite henna wash day recipes. It’s easy, quick and so nourishing. This is the DIY henna recipe your hair will soak up. Deeply nourishing and strengthening, everything you’ll need for your wash day.⠀ Our Recipe Note: this recipe is enough for shoulder length hair of average thickness. You may need more or less depending on your hair).⠀ Pour 100 grams of henna powder into your bowl. Preferably glass or stainless steel bowl. ⠀ Add enough warm distilled water to create a thick mud of the henna paste. ⠀ Add about 3-4 tbsp of your favorite conditioner (if you need more or less then adjust as desired). We recommend Honey Hemp by Oyin Handmade and it smells divine!⠀ Add about 2-3 tbsp of our Organic Argan oil. ⠀ Add 5-7 drops of our Rosemary essential oil. Mix everything really well. Should you need more liquid then do add more and if it’s too runny then you can add more henna powder to thicken it.⠀ Allow this recipe to rest covered and undisturbed for 30 minutes and longer if you want to pull some of the color from the henna (up to 4 hours). ⠀ Apply on your hair and allow it to stay in your hair 30-60 minutes or up to 4 hours if you’d like to get a little color. ⠀ Wash out and style as usual. Your hair is going to feel amazing! ⠀...

There is no such thing as “Henna Hair Dye Colors”

There is no such thing as “Henna Hair Dye Colors”

It can be so confusing deciding on which henna to purchase and which brand to go with. It’s easy to just pick up a box of a “Henna Color” from a store and color your hair. At least they make it seem so easy. They show you a variety of boxes with henna dye colors that you could possibly achieve on your hair. You can choose from blonde, red, orange, burgundy, brown, chocolate brown, black and I’ve even seen purple. I mean if you can color your hair with just all in one box, why not right? Well not so fast. Have you read all the ingredients? I can almost guarantee that these boxes of henna hair dye, in their wide range of colors, will have many questionable ingredients. These ingredients could possibly damage your hair because many of them are not natural ingredients. Not only questionable ingredients but a bunch of extra ingredients you don’t need. Ingredients Matter Every last ingredients you put into your hair matters. Self care and self love should be your top priorities which include your health and well being.   Did you know that there is no such thing as henna colors?  Henna is a single, simple plant. One of my favorite examples to use is that of blueberries. Blueberries grow in varying regions and can slightly vary in size and taste but they will always stain blue. There are no colors of blueberry stains as is the case with henna. One plant, one color result. So all these boxed henna hair dye colors are in fact just another ploy to get you...

Lemon Juice VS Water

Lemon Juice VS Water

Have you chosen your henna powder but unsure about wether to use water or lemon juice? There are pros and cons to using either one. I can remember when I first started doing henna for my hair and my mix always consisted of water and a splash of lemon juice to boost the color. I’ve always liked keeping it simple. For my henna body art mixes I started off using lemon juice as I heard that most people used lemon juice. I never really thought of alternatives as I was still learning but I do believe in experimenting and trying things out. I believe that we all have to find out what works best for us. It happens that what might work for one person might not work for another. My henna for hair recipe is pretty much still the same for my personal use but it’s very intriguing to see the different liquids that clients choose. With henna body art the choices are a little bit the same overall. There isn’t as much variety. Henna For Hair Often times clients first come across blogs, vlogs and instructions for mixing their henna with lemon juice. A few things about using lemon juice in your hair recipes: very acidic it can be very drying this can cause hair breakage it makes the dye release take longer to release it can boost the color in henna A lot of the times when the information is found online it’s often out dated especially when it contains information about using lemon juice in your recipe for hair. Make sure everything you read it at...
