This all really depends on your hair and what your hair likes. For some they can shampoo and condition the henna coloring recipes out, and for others the best option would be to co-wash (conditioner only wash out).
It’s best to be as gentle as possible when washing out your henna coloring treatment and allow the color to settle for up to 48 hours.
Shampoo & Condition
When using both this could be absolutely fine for you. Your hair may be very porous and shampooing won’t remove any of the color. You’ll get an opportunity to really cleanse, and condition at the same time. I wouldn’t recommend any clarifying (such as soapnuts) or clay washes out as that can most definitely strip the color out. Should you hair hold henna coloring really well, then you are safe to do this option.
Co-Wash
Most of our clients use this method. This is the method of washing out your hair after the henna coloring treatment with conditioner only. This allows the hair to detangle, become very soft, and to replace any moisture lost from the henna treatment.
Whichever method works for you, please make sure to use gentle, color safe products from www.HennaSooq.com or your local natural product retailer. You can also recommend to your local retailer to carry our products. Let them know about us 🙂
You can return to your regular washing schedule once the henna color has settled (around 2-3 days after application and dyeing process). You can moisture (hair oils) as needed right after henna treatment.

I have a question how do you take out high shiny copper penny tone. I originally used light brown about 8 months ago my natural hair color is a dirty blond and what a change i used burgundy shade now it looks bright copper look. What do I do 🙁
Rebecca thank you for your post. Do you happen to have a photo of this hair tone we can preview to be sure?
First time using henna this morning never again the WORST experience in coloring my hair for over 25 years not good not good. Do not see no change in hair color still look like I never color. It does not work natural hair. So disappointed a waste. I could have used store box and got a better results. Never again. So not happy
Can i use shampoo and conditioner after applying heena on the same day??
Hello Alka. Yes you can do that if you find that those shampoo and conditioners do NOT remove the color. They have to be very gentle and color safe.
Yes that should be fine as long as it’s color safe nor will strip the color out.
Henna doesn’t work from the first time, it takes time and patience. I have black hair and it took me months to have brown hair. Henna is not hair dye that changes your hair colour from the first time. It’s a healthier way of dying your hair, takes time, patience and it’s permanent.
