- Treats eczema and psoriasis
Recommended methods of using this herb:
- You can make a hot water infusion with this herb, and other ayurvedic herbs such as shikakai, amla, brhingraj, and others of your choice. Steep them for about 3-4 minutes, and then strain. Use the liquid as a hair rinse after you shampoo and/or condition your hair. Rinse it all out really well. This is best used directly in the shower as it can run. You can also leave this in if you wrap it tightly with a shower cap. Leave this in for about 30 minutes to an hour
- When using your favorite conditioner, you can make an ayurvedic herbal gloss. Apply this all over your hair, by sections and then place a shower cap on, or saran wrap. Leave this on for 30 minutes to an hour.
- Prepare this herb as a paste (you can add any other ayurvedic herbs as you’d like), and use it in place of your shampoo. This paste cane be made with a tea brew, or just warm water. You can then wash it out, and then condition (deep, leave in conditioner depending on your hair type) afterwards.
- Create an amazing hair oil infusion. You can add 2 parts of your favorite hair oils, to one part of herbs of your choice. Allow to steep naturally for at least 4-5 days or more depending on the herbs you use. Some herbs are tougher, and need more fusion time, such as horsetail. If you’d like to speed it up, and we use this method personally, is use a crock pot to allow the oil and herbs to steep at warm temperature for 24-36 hours. Then turn it off, and allow it to sit for another 24-36 hours. Strain in a nylon stocking. I let this actually hang, and slowly drip for the next 24 hours. The I squeeze what I can out afterwards (from out of the stocking). I then pour the oil infusion into an applicator bottle, or squeeze bottle. Keep this stored in a cool, dark place.

Ok I have a really stupid question. When you say 2 to 1 on oil to herb, am I correct in assumming that you would mean for example, 2 tbsp oil to 1 tbsp herb? And what oil would you recommend for this?? Thanks for your time, you are the best!!
Hi Belinda
Yes 2 tbsp of oil to 1 tbsp oil. or 2 cups of oil to 1 cup herbs. We make a lot so we use cups. Well the oil, it really depends on what you are using it for. For us, we use it mainly in our soaps right now as infusions that go into the soap, so we just use olive oil. But if you have argan oil or golden jojoba, camellia, any of those hair oils and there are so many, or olive oil too, just use those. You just use the oil that your hair loves 🙂
Khadija, I am so sorry for the late reply, I have been so forgetful on things lately! And yes it took me this long to find where I had posted this question LOL! Thank you for the information! I have ordered some of your hail oil, should be here today!
Welcome Belinda!
Hi Khadija!
I’m searching for herbs that I can use to wash my hair. For almost a year I’ve been doing baking soda and vinegar, which works well with my hair, but I’d still like to expirement. Are there any herbs you can recommend me? Thanks!
Hi Brittany. Shikakai is great for cleansing and soapnuts (aritha). Those are your best herbs for cleansing.
Can we use brahmi with henna and Amla powder for dying my hair ?? I love brown hair rather than red and black . I heard brahmi acts as an indigo is it true ? Ill add coffee and tea with my henna for brown colour .

You can try the bhrami and see if it helps, or you might need to use henna to color your hair is not as sometimes it might work for some and not others.
