2017 has been about relationships

2017 has been about relationships

What a wonderful 2017. It’s not really like the year disappears. I mean honestly?! It’s just life flowing into the next. I do believe the New Year’s gives a lot of people focus, hope and a means to start planning the future.  Just remember that everything you’ve learned and been through for every year past is this person you’ve become and that’s just amazing! It means you are becoming and evolving. You are everything and more. I also recognize and feel compassion towards others that may have had to go through some things that they hated in 2017 and I do hope that 2018 gives them (and this may even be you) a sense of renewal, freedom, self expression and strength. To me this is my every day. Each and every day is an opportunity to wake up, to rise up and to start fresh. This past 2017 has been an amazing year. I have never felt a stronger sense of community. A sense of women coming together. Women empowering one another and supporting one another. I saw the relationships that were built. The hearts that opened up. The love shared. The energy has been phenomenal. Man, I want to cry, just reflecting on how amazing each and every woman that I’ve been so lucky to have met this year. To have hugged, laughed and shared with. I truly love each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. I ‘m not perfect and I’m going to keep working on myself. I hope to remain humble enough to always accept my short comings so that I...

Thanks + Giving

Thanks + Giving

This is time to bring families, friends and loved ones together. A time for thanks and a time for giving. We recognize that some people will celebrate Thanksgiving and some will not. Even so it’s always the right time to focus on thanks and giving in our lives. I want to reflect on all the things I’m thankful for and the things I want to dedicate myself to in giving. Please comment below to tell me one thing you are thankful for and one thing you will be more giving of. Thanks I am first and foremost thankful to have the power of prayer in my life. I feel really blessed to have God as part of my beliefs and in my way of life. I give thanks for all of my six children and hubby. I wouldn’t change one thing about having such a large family. They keep me feeling young, silly and light hearted. Thankful for all the new connections and friendships that have been made. I can’t even begin to tell all of you all the women that have really come together and are connecting. I haven’t felt a sense of sisterhood in quote some time. I’ve met so many phenomenal artists, bloggers, divas, healers, makeup artists, stylings, photographers and the list goes on and on. Giving I promise to be a more giving and generous person to others. I plan to decide on a charity/organization to benefit from our Henna Chai and events we have planned for 2018. I’d also really love to give back to the community through free henna classes both online and locally....

Sisterhood and Healing: What I learned this weekend

Sisterhood and Healing: What I learned this weekend

This past weekend was absolutely amazing; bringing together women from all walks of life, backgrounds and perspectives. The phenomenal Goddess Glo Up event (which by the way is coming to DC in February) and the professionals Natural Hair Industry Convention were events all of you would have loved. It began with all white. Honestly all white?! Man. Talk about going out of my comfort zone. It’s not that I don’t love other colors (yes I love black!). I know many of you have seen me rocking some beautiful colors. It’s just that my black hijab is so comfy and I don’t have variations in colors in that style. Yes, I’m going to get more made but until then I had to figure things out. There were definitely little whispers in my ear challenging me to attend. I was nervous to be putting myself in a situation where I told myself I wouldn’t have expectations but I’m not going to lie to myself, I had ideas floating in my mind, whispering to me and my own insecurities. I told those whisperings that today is going to be my day with my sisters, in all their glory and beauty. To be surrounded by so much radiant energy and positive vibes. To embrace an experience that could potential be life changing. To connect with like minded people. This is what I needed. Perhaps not only what I needed but it was meant for me to cross paths with someone there and be there for them in some way or another. I believe every encounter is not by chance but by destiny. At the Goddess...
