During the holiday break of December, we had a very big conference. Reviving the Islamic Spirit. This is their 6th annual event, and our first time being there. They attract over 10,000 visitors to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. We had Shaista Jalal, of Hennarinah.com, to come out and work with the Henna Sooq booth. We had a pretty good location, and generated good traffic. We were extremely busy. We literally barely got to eat, and by the end of the full conference weekend, we were beat tired. But it was really exciting, and now we can plan for next year. With the hopes of something bigger, and better.

After the conference, our Indian order came in. We had to rush over there to retrieve it from customs. We had over 400 kgs of herbal products come in. Our newest additions being Rajasthani Indian Henna Crop 2008, and our Premium Bridal Ubtan.

We also had our first bride of 2009! Sonia was an exquisite bride, with a very generous and kind family. They treated me to a nice dinner with one of my favorite dishes, butter chicken.  Here is a sampling from her bridal mehndi party

 Amla powder, also known as emblica officinalis.

 This is an excellent exfoliant for the skin and also makes skin tight. One can add sandalwood powder, turmeric powder to the paste for astringent and cooling properties.

 Mixing Amla for healthy skin:

-Mix powder with hot water. Let it cool.

-Leave on your skin for 10 minutes

-Rinse off well.

How to store your powder: fridge or cool dark place.
How to store your amla paste: freezer

 Ghassoul (Rhassoul) from Morocco.

 This is an excellent exfoliant for the skin. It does not strip the natural oils from your skin, and leaves it feeling smooth and soft.

 Mixing ghassoul for healthy skin:

-Place ghassoul into bowl and put warm to hot water over it. Allow to sit for 5 minutes.

-Mix ghassoul to make a muddy paste.

-Apply ghassoul onto your face, and rub well in circular motions.

-Allow to stay on the skin for 5 to 10 minutes.

-Rinse well.

-For scent you can add rose water, orange blossom water or your choice of essential oils, when preparing your ghassoul mud.

How to store your clay: fridge or cool dark place.
How to store your mud: fridge for up to one week.
