Destination: Trinidad and Tobago

Our trip to Trinidad and Tobago is right around the corner. I’m so excited! There is so much to see and do. We have a Henna Workshop scheduled for October 9th along with henna body art sessions (we have a few spots available). We recommend you book as soon as possible to 443-254-0736 or Khadija@HennaSooq.com. I look forward to all the photo possibilities of henna, beauty and the natural surroundings of the islands. Will you be one of our models? Our workshop is ideal for beginners. No experience needed. We’ll be going over all the fundamentals of henna, mixing your own henna paste, applying henna body art and every attendee receives a body art design. I’m especially looking forward to my meet up with Aneesa Karim whose henna body art designs are so gorgeous. You can find her on Facebook and on Instagram. I thank her for this list of must to do’s in Trinidad and Tobago. “As for the adventuring for the couple days, once the weather isn’t too bad (it’s supposed to be rainy season), we can check out some these places: Chaguaramas: http://chaguaramas.com/ Lots of things to do here, including a secluded, but very popular cove called Macquripe, walking/biking/hiking trails, ziplining, etc. There are a couple of restaurants we can check out in the area too. This is to the North West of the island. There’s the capital – Port of Spain – many great restaurants there, and a mix of old and new architecture around the Queens Park Savannah; The Emperor Valley Zoo, Botanical Gardens, etc. There are a couple other beaches along the North...

Henna + Hibiscus + Cocoa Butter

Henna + Hibiscus + Cocoa Butter

Henna + Hibiscus + Cocoa Butter = moisture rich hair recipe. Mix your henna and hibiscus petal powder together in a bowl. Equal proportions of each or as desired. In another bowl over low heat slowly melt your cocoa butter wafers until fully melted. Allow to cool and then pour into your powder mix. Mix well until consistency of a thick yoghurt. You can add water, coconut milk or more cocoa butter if your mix is too dry. Apply onto your hair by sections. I’ve always found that doing four sections work the best. I usually start at the front and work towards the back. Once completed, wrap your hair and allow to stay in your hair 1-2 hours. Rinse out, dry and style as usual. Gorgeous moisture rich hair perfect for your new Fall/Winter regimen. We recommend this hair conditioning treatment be repeated every 2-3...

Did you let your henna sit out overnight?

Did you let your henna sit out overnight?

Do you consider yourself a long time henna user? Did you come across some great henna recipes on the internet that you really would love to try? Will this be your first time using henna? If you answered yes to any of those questions then this article is for you. There have been times when clients have come to us and told us that their henna didn’t work for them. They were very disappointed as the color didn’t come out as they expected and it barely stained when they did the skin patch test. The deal on dye release: Testing your henna paste for a more effective stain We can’t stress just how important it is to follow the exact instructions on the package of your product (or online at www.HennaSooq.com under the instruction and video tabs of each product’s page). There are a lot of blogs and YouTube channels that have hundreds of recommendations on how they use henna products and often you may be tempted to use the products exactly as they did. Perhaps you’ve been doing henna for so many years that you mix it exactly the same way you always have and it always came out perfectly. Times have changed. Not all henna powders (or brands) are created equally. You can try out recipes and tips from bloggers and vloggers but you will have to make sure you blend their methods with the instructions that are for the henna powder you’re using. The instructions provided by Henna Sooq are very comprehensive and detailed. We set you up for success with henna. We ask everyone to...
