We use only organic high oleic sunflower oil in our shampoo bars.  Our Moroccan clay now also contains castor oil for extra fluffy lathering.  You can also note that our bars are now more consistent in coloring, and texture. We made sure of this when blending all of the ingredients together, so as not to leaves any floating lumps. Floating lumps are also a sign of over processing. We even hand-sift all of the herbal powders that go into our bars so that those don’t lump together.

I personally really like the luer lock plastic tips, as it really works well for applying glue sealant, and getting the glue to go on finer for more detailed designs (I was making freestyle glitter tattoos/zardosi). It takes practice, and a good flow, because you want to avoid glue bubbles. I also liked the fact that the glue at the tip didn’t get as thick, and congested as I’ve seen with other applicators. I just removed the little bit of dried glue (when I left it out overnight it dried), and was back to using this applicator. Videos on luer lock bottles, and tips will be coming really soon!

There have been some changes to our shampoo bars recently. We felt it was necessary to update, and change a few things about each recipe to improve on it, and especially based on feedback. We also changed the packaging, and labelling. All the materials we use for packaging are recycable, or made of recycled materials. The shape of our bars are now perfectly uniform, and larger in size. Any handmade product varies from time to time, but we strive to maintain consistency in soap making.

• Our herbal infusions are now done over a longer period of time (from 4-5 days) to ensure best results. We feel this is very important to make sure to extract all the benefits from these herbs directly in 100% pure olive oil. Some herbs take longer then others. This would be considered the low-heat method.
• Cocoveda Shampoo Bar: Now made with organic coconut milk, and organic henna powder. The bar is better blended, and lumps no longer exist as before. Still smells yummy, and lathers really well.
• Soapnut Shampoo Bar: We have increased the amount of soapnut powder (aritha) that is added to this bar, to give a good deep cleanse. This bar has always been perfect for deep cleansing, especially from the use of daily hair products.
• Argan Oil: This bar has probably had the biggest changes made yet. We have increased the amount of argan oil (we used to be told that it got a little gummy in texture) by at least 6% more. The beeswax we use in this bar, is higher quality, extra filtered, and is gotten directly from a bee farm. It now has a smoother, more creamy texture.
• Sweet Honey: Now with organic cassia obovata. This bar has become very popular over the last few months.
• Moroccan Clay: This recipe will now have coconut oil as part of it, for a better lather, and to add hardness, as we have completely altered this recipe. We want it to be smooth to the touch, and increasing certain oils to make it more moisturizing, and rich with ghassoul clay.

We also have a brand new addition to our shampoo bar line: Berhempsu. This shampoo bar is made with hemp oil, shea butter, babassu, olive oil, castor oil, golden jojoba oil, grape seed extract, fig fruit extract, and bergamot essential oil. It is great for all hair types.

Bergamot is definetely one of my newest favorite essential oils. It is a citrus oil, but with a hint of lavender/softness. Grape seed extract is known to help fight skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and help combat dandruff. Fig fruit extract is high in Vitamin C and Vitamin A. It is also beneficial in reducing superficial surface skin cells – leaving the skin refreshed and renewed.

Berhempsu is in my shower right now. I’m addicted to it, and it’s become part of my hair regimen. I love those extra end pieces (from the log)!!

Just a tip: Should you find that after you wash your hair with one of our shampoo bars, that you hair feels a bit greasy, then you may need an ACV rinse, or to use conditioner afterwards. Sometimes some bars are also very rich with moisturizing oils, and superfatted oils, so choose the right shampoo bar for you based on your hair type, and needs.

In the past there were often issues between the US and Canada shops. Mostly for Canadians to be honest, because when you click back on the shop link, thinking you are heading to the home page of the shop, you are really redirecting yourself to the USA shop. This is a problem because then you are all of a sudden logged out, and left wondering what has happened and why as you keep trying, and trying you can’t log back in.

The USA shop will not recognize, nor process Canadian orders. They each have their own side, and take clients seperately. So if you register on one side, then it doesn’t mean you are registered automatically on both sides. The USA shop will also also not let you put Canada in as your country, as this action is disabled because our Canadian clients have to place orders in the Canadian shop.

There are still a few little tweeks here and there that we are working on, but within the week they should be all cleared up.

So officially we have lauched Henna Sooq Canada, now with a .ca! Now we have Henna Sooq Canada, and Henna Sooq USA. This should eliminate a lot of issues some of our clients are having. You can also see a new tab on the right hand side of the screen that states which side/shop you are in, and you can click to get onto the other side, should you need to.

If you are having any issues, or have concerns please let us know. Sometimes things go overlooked, and we don’t even realized it. We’d really appreciate that!

This oil works for all hair types, and has a long shelf life. It works effectively on damaged hair, and hair that tends to break, split and/or tangle. This oil is extremely healing, and moisturizing for the hair.

Golden Jojoba is rich in vitamin E, and closely resembles the sebum of skin, and of the scalp. This promotes glowing skin, and a healthy scalp. Sebum is required for proper moisturizing of beautiful hair. Hair that has a regular regimen of good moisture tends to be more resistant to daily damage, tangles, dryness, and split ends. 

This oil is gentle enough to use on baby’s skin. It is often used by massage therapists, as it absords easily into the skin, and a little goes a long way. It is a great oil to use as a superfat in your soap recipes.

As a deep treatment for your hair, massage the oil (about a small handful, depending on your hair length)  into your damp hair, and scalp. Wrap your hair in a towel to maintain warmth, and allow penetration. Shampoo as normal with one of our shampoo bars.  

You can also add this oil directly to your henna, and/or herbal hair recipe, or apply onto your hair after your herbal hair treatment to lock in moisture.
