Lemon Juice VS Water

Lemon Juice VS Water

Have you chosen your henna powder but unsure about wether to use water or lemon juice? There are pros and cons to using either one. I can remember when I first started doing henna for my hair and my mix always consisted of water and a splash of lemon juice to boost the color. I’ve always liked keeping it simple. For my henna body art mixes I started off using lemon juice as I heard that most people used lemon juice. I never really thought of alternatives as I was still learning but I do believe in experimenting and trying things out. I believe that we all have to find out what works best for us. It happens that what might work for one person might not work for another. My henna for hair recipe is pretty much still the same for my personal use but it’s very intriguing to see the different liquids that clients choose. With henna body art the choices are a little bit the same overall. There isn’t as much variety. Henna For Hair Often times clients first come across blogs, vlogs and instructions for mixing their henna with lemon juice. A few things about using lemon juice in your hair recipes: very acidic it can be very drying this can cause hair breakage it makes the dye release take longer to release it can boost the color in henna A lot of the times when the information is found online it’s often out dated especially when it contains information about using lemon juice in your recipe for hair. Make sure everything you read it at...

Thanks + Giving

Thanks + Giving

This is time to bring families, friends and loved ones together. A time for thanks and a time for giving. We recognize that some people will celebrate Thanksgiving and some will not. Even so it’s always the right time to focus on thanks and giving in our lives. I want to reflect on all the things I’m thankful for and the things I want to dedicate myself to in giving. Please comment below to tell me one thing you are thankful for and one thing you will be more giving of. Thanks I am first and foremost thankful to have the power of prayer in my life. I feel really blessed to have God as part of my beliefs and in my way of life. I give thanks for all of my six children and hubby. I wouldn’t change one thing about having such a large family. They keep me feeling young, silly and light hearted. Thankful for all the new connections and friendships that have been made. I can’t even begin to tell all of you all the women that have really come together and are connecting. I haven’t felt a sense of sisterhood in quote some time. I’ve met so many phenomenal artists, bloggers, divas, healers, makeup artists, stylings, photographers and the list goes on and on. Giving I promise to be a more giving and generous person to others. I plan to decide on a charity/organization to benefit from our Henna Chai and events we have planned for 2018. I’d also really love to give back to the community through free henna classes both online and locally....

Not all henna is created equally

Not all henna is created equally

Not all henna powders are created equally. There are blends, henna hair colors, hair quality and even fake henna. It honestly makes it near impossible to choose what might work best for you. We do believe there will be some trial and error in the whole process but it shouldn’t be so complicated. Henna Blends This is found often times in your local Indian or Middle Eastern store. Sometimes even online. A henna blend would be where the henna is in the ingredients listed but there may be several other herbs in this mix. Blends are not ideal for coloring because they dilute the main ingredient that produce the color which is the henna powder. A lot of blends are also sitting on the shelves for more then a year or so at a time typically. So they aren’t typically very fresh. Freshness is important similarly to you cooking with fresh herbs. You also get better results. Henna Hair Colors The most confusing and misleading product in the henna marketplace. Henna is being sold as colors when in fact henna is not a range of colors. Henna is a plant that produces only a reddish tinted dye/stain. A plant naturally does not make two colors. There are no types of hennas. Henna is a single plant of it’s kind. Basically a henna hair color box is a blend of many coloring herbs including henna to create boxed hair dye that sometimes contains even PPD (chemical), compound henna and metallic salts. Henna hair colors also give a false sense of the color results that you’ll receive from using a henna...
