It’s been a pretty rough summer. There has been a lot of stress transitioning back to the USA, and I want to apologize to those who have been affected along with us. I also want to thank many of you who have really been there, and have been really patient, and understanding with us through this time.

Trust me, and I am being completely honest, that you don’t even begin to believe how difficult it has been. Most of our products, and own personal items, are all in storage. Just about everything. So we were forced to order additional henna powder, and herbs to cover the loss. We can’t access our storage either, so some of you have been waiting for certain henna powders for a little while now. I apologize, and hope you can bear with us just a little while longer.

I also miss my kids. They have been away from us since June. We thought the whole move would go smoothly, and that we’d be down there, but no we haven’t settled as yet. I try my hardest to be strong, and positive, but after so many months of hoping, and of disappointments, it’s sometimes just hard to understand, and all we want is to just be happy. Just be back to normal.

All I ask is that my clients, be as patient, and understanding as possible. I can’t keep on doing this without you. I can’t.

This week, we should have a final answer on our situation. We will keep you posted.

Henna Sooq Canada will cease local pick up orders in 7 days from today’s date of August 10th, 2o1o. Our products can be bought at Green Instead at 200 Spadina Avenue, and soon Honey Fig will be carrying Henna Sooq products as well. Please contract them directly for inquiries. Everyone who orders online, has to have their orders shipped to them, no exceptions. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Shipping to Canadian clients will continue out of Toronto.

Henna Sooq USA, if all works out we will be based out of Howard County in Maryland. We might consider local pick ups, but we have not finalized this decision as yet.

Just a bit of a quick update. The transition to the USA has been a bit tough for us. We’re having a really hard time with moving into our home.  We’ve ran into some big hurdles since we’ve been gone from the USA for so long, so please be patient, and bear with us during our struggles.

As many of you know, moving is not an easy task at all. So the adjustments will take some time.

Good news! We aren’t moving with a new baby this time, and secondly there will be NO order delays at all. Orders will continue to be shipped out from Toronto, Ontario (Canada).

Henna Sooq USA will be located at our home-based studio in Hanover, Maryland. We will eventually be shipping from within the USA once everything gets settled.

NEW! Our new local contact phone number will be 410-379-0436. This new phone number will only be working as of June 28, 2010. We’ll also be getting a 1-800 number once the main lines are set up.

We use only organic high oleic sunflower oil in our shampoo bars.  Our Moroccan clay now also contains castor oil for extra fluffy lathering.  You can also note that our bars are now more consistent in coloring, and texture. We made sure of this when blending all of the ingredients together, so as not to leaves any floating lumps. Floating lumps are also a sign of over processing. We even hand-sift all of the herbal powders that go into our bars so that those don’t lump together.

We don’t regularly get a chance to send out emails to our mailing list, but we do keep the blog consistently up to date.

Jamila Summer Crop 2009 is now out of stock. The new 2010 summer crop will be coming by mid-July. We are really looking forward to it!!

Our products will continue to ship from within Canada, for our Canadian clients. Eventually all international, and USA orders will ship out from within the USA, as soon as Henna Sooq USA settles down in its new location in Hanover, Maryland. This will take at least 1-2 months to completely be settled back to normal.

Products will continue to be available at Green Instead at 200 Spadina Ave, in downtown Toronto. Our Mississauga location will also be opening very soon.

This will not cause any delays when you place your order with us. The only thing that changes will be that the USA and international orders will no longer be shipped from Canada, but from within the USA which means shipping time will be even faster.

New! We’ll be carrying fresh henna cones locally in Hanover, Maryland, and start shipping our fresh henna paste to USA clients by July.

One more last new item on the list! We will begin teaching our Henna Body Art Workshops, and Natural Hair Care Workshops in Maryland, and surrounding areas by Fall time. Contact your local library or school if you’d like them to book those with us. This really helps especially if you’d like the library or school to cover the cost of this activity (they usually have budgets set aside for workshops/classes).

At our kids’ school, I had started talking with one of the support teachers about the girls, and personal hygiene, and setting something up to do with them, related to Henna Sooq’s products.

During that I had decided to give the support teacher a Cocoveda bar, which she now swears by. Who doesn’t love Cocoveda?! It’s been a huge hit. Thanks to all of you for that!

During that time I had begun to personally use the shampoo bars as a body bar, as we do get a lot of end pieces (extra pieces) from the logs once we’re finished cutting. I even started shaving with them (under arms, as I have an epilator for my legs).

Then the support teacher told me she needs to stock up on the bars before we leave to move to Maryland. So she orders 6 more bars. She also mentions that ever since she started shaving under her arms, she always had shaving bumps, and with the shampoo bar she has none at all. I did a double take, because I then realized that I wasn’t getting any little bumps/irritation under my arms either, but I hadn’t really thought about it, as it doesn’t always happen for me.

The smoothness of shaving, and how soft my skin is afterwards with our shampoo bars in amazing! I believe the extra oils in our shampoo bars is what nourishes the skin, and creates a layer of oil on the skin for smooth shaving. I no longer get any bumps or irritation under my arms.
