Happy 15th Ali

Happy 15th Ali

We want to wish our son Ali a happy 15th! (belated post: Bday August 26) We’re so proud of all his accomplishments this year. He took a required graduating class at summer school to earn the credit earlier then later, so that he can be prepared for his junior year (grade 11 to us Canadians) to get into computer graphic design, and more advanced classes. He had two GT/Honors classes on his schedule, and is in French 3 this school year. He (and his brother Isa) went to Virginia Beach to take part in Junior Olympics Wrestling for the first time. He’s trained so hard, and is really focused on his goals. He also received his yellow solid belt from Crazy 88 MMA (from one of the best coaches out there, Tye). Keep on going strong Ali. We’re so proud of you and of the person you’re...

Best Eid ever!

Best Eid ever!

We had such a blast this past weekend celebrating Eid. This is the holiday following the end of Ramadan. It was jammed packed with henna, fun, running around, food galore, and just good, relaxing times. (Henna by Henna Sooq at our new studio in Columbia, MD) We got to hang out with family. The was good eats from Eggspectations and Wilds Seafood. Yum! Saturday we went to Hershey Park for the first time. It was so fun! We’ll definitely be going back. Sunday was our day of relaxing at Polishd Nails for pedis and manis (my fave nail spot). Topped that off with good times at the Lopez’s house for more good eats and a dip in the pool....

Isa and Jamal it’s their day on the SAME day!

Isa and Jamal it’s their day on the SAME day!

Isa is the oldest of our 6 children. He turns a big 16 year old today! Crazy thing, is that today is also Jamal’s birthday. People were amazed that Jamal’s first born child was born on the same birth date as he was. Like we could plan that?! 🙂 Isa since a young age always got into things, and kept us on our feet. I’d be running and chasing after him. Trying to get him out the door had always been tough. He likes routine, and order. He also would take things personally, which he still does, and can get upset really easily. He’s grown up so much, and matured into a fine young man. This boy has the biggest heart of them all. Isa has taken a summer job with us here at Henna Sooq. He’s been packaging products, like your favorite Red Raj, labeling, and getting bins filled so we can process orders quickly. We feel strongly that children of small business owners (and all entrepreneurs) should take their children under their wing, and let the kids learn some important operations, even though some are pretty basic, of running your own business. They get to experience hands on how a business functions, daily routines, and how to earn their own money. This experience is priceless. How many of us have had the opportunity to grow up with real life business...
