I just wanted to send you an update

You sent a sample of your henna to treat my mom’s HFS.

I just wanted to thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart! It just came a few days ago, and we tried it yesterday.

We followed your well-written directions. Today my mother called me from my father’s workplace and told me that she is already seeing results. The dead skin flaked off of her hands when she washed off the henna and they are now smooth! Her feet also showed immediate results and are smooth as well. Before applying henna treatment her hands and feet were always covered with large flakes of skin that were dead, but had not broken completely off.

This is remarkable for my mom because she has been trying to find some relief for her hands and feet for years. Prior to the henna treatment her only recourse had been constant lotioning of her hands and feet. She also tried some of the more, “exotic,” remedies, but her results matched those that she got with lotion.

We are so excited to explore henna further to treat her HFS. It is still the beginning of her treatment so we are hoping for continuing progress!

I came across Shin’s Blog. It really brought me to tears. Please take some time to read it and you can view what Hand Foot Syndrome can do. She also has some very touching videos that you must watch. She passed away in January 2009.

Mix it

 ¼ cup warm water
2 tbsp henna powder
Squirt of lemon juice
Put henna powder into a bowl, preferably stainless steel, as plastic is porous. Add warm water a bit at a time, mixing well. Add a squirt of lemon juice. If you already have cracks in your skin, omit the lemon juice, as it will sting.

Apply it

Protect the area you will be applying the henna in, with plastic bags or an old towel/sheet. Apply a thin layer of henna to your bare hands, and feet, as desired. Some use a foam paint brush to apply.

Let it dry

It should take about 15-20 minutes to dry. Cover your hands and/or feet with gloves or socks, and allow to sit on the treated areas for at least 1-2 hours. Then wash off.

Best henna powder to use

Make sure you use Jamila summer crop (most current year) as this henna powder has been very effective in treating HFS/PPE.

When to use it

Use at least once a week, and whenever you feel your hands and/or feet starting to heat up.

What does it do?

Henna naturally cools the burning sensations of HFS/PPE. That often will help prevent cracks, and blisters, but be sure to follow the recommendations of using creams, and socks/gloves for best results. Henna does not help with neuropathy.

It went so far that last year for the first time, Abid and Co. had to place red printing on the foil packages so we could see it was their Jamila henna powder. Now even further, they decided to add the crop year in the red printing. Last year there was no year marked on the foil packages. We feel that in order to stop these issues, and to clarify things, Abid and Co. had to take further steps and add the 2009 year onto the red printing we find.

This is what you will find on this year’s Summer Crop 2009 packages.

Jamila henna powder will come in two qualities. Jamila henna for hair and Jamila Summer Crop (year marked).

• Jamila henna for hair. This henna comes packaged inside a clear cellophane package, inside of a sealed, plain Jamila box that is marked inside with “Henna for Hair“. There will be no date marked on the box. The sift is a lesser quality, but still much better then store bought quality sifts. The henna leaves chosen for this quality are from leaves that are lower on the henna plant. The dye content is not as high as the premium quality Jamila henna. It is popular for hair usage.
• Jamila Summer Crop (2009, or year marked).This quality is used by professional henna artists, and is very popular amongst natural hair care lovers. This henna powder is the most finely sifted of the two varieties of Jamila henna powder available, and contains the best leaves of the henna plant that contain the most dye content. It currently comes in foil packaging that is marked in red ”premium quality JAMILA henna 2009” inside of a sealed, shiny Jamila box.

Abid and Co., have also helped out this year, to give back to the community. I have always felt that henna was put on the earth for very important reasons. Think about the regions in which it grows in. Those countries are all very hot countries. Henna was put their as a mercy to those people. Henna’s cooling properties benefit them.

We have several clients who are now using henna to bring relief to their cancer treatments. We have a few of them using different drugs, but similarly all suffer from hand-foot syndrome. This is a syndrome where your hands and feet burn, and feel so hot you can barely function. Henna is a mercy to those cancer patients as well.

I want to thank each and everyone person who has helped a cancer patient get relief with henna. For telling others, and sharing this information over the web. I myself am so happy to hear that in fact, henna has been giving relief to those people! I always see good in henna. It seems to radiate good times, and spirits.

My dad also had cancer. I don’t talk about this too much, honestly, I don’t. I mean I can talk about it, but I don’t really bring it up. He had 80% prostrate cancer. So he was going to have the surgery. He had the surgery at a local hospital by one of the “supposed” best doctors. It was a success, but his after care wasn’t good enough in my opnion. I don’t know what happened, but four days later he died suddenly in the hospital of a heart attack. This happened in Montreal, Canada. I had read some stories about c.difficile and thought perhaps that was might have happened to him, but I lived in the USA at the time, so it was hard to do something from far. I remember him telling me he had diarhea, and had trouble breathing. They were about to run a tube up into his nose, and as suddenly as they did that, he started having a heart attack. My sister was right there with him. I can just remember the moment she told me, and my screams, my tears.

How then had I wished to have been right there with him when he had the surgery, and in his recovery time. Don’t any of you ever get to the point where you have to ask yourself the what if’s. NEVER. Don’t waste your time and energy being angry or upset at you would have, should have, could have done. The point is that you should have and could have! You’ll just end up with too many regrets, if you don’t act right away.

But there was nothing I could do. He died, and a part of me felt lost. I felt like not only did I lose him, but that I had lost a part of my whole family. He was what attached me to them. He was the one who accepted me as who I am. Not one day, did he EVER make me feel like he didn’t want me. Never did he make me feel different. Not everything was perfect, and that’s life, but I felt like he took us all in when he didn’t have to. I felt that I owed him, and I completely took care of everything for him afterwards. He’ll be missed, and my kids they’ll miss out too. They barely got to know him. To my father, Lance Carryl, who did the right thing. Going on 6 years of his passing: January 29, 2002: age 48.
