When My Roots are Oily, But my Ends are Dry

When My Roots are Oily, But my Ends are Dry

Oily hair is caused by a number of reasons: Often people purchase products to treat dry hair in order to treat the ends, but the extra moisturizing will cause problems if the roots are already oily, so it’s best to use products for oily hair to combat the oiliness and then moisturize just the ends of the hair where the moisture is needed. There are many reasons why hair could be oily at the root, below are the most common reasons. Oily hair can be a result of over washing your hair. When you continue to wash your hair, the scalp over compensates by producing more oil. Long showers with hot water (which dries the scalp) will also increase the oiliness of your scalp. Dry scalp . This may sound unusual that a dry scalp would cause hair to be oily, but what happens is that when the scalp is dry, it secretes more oil to counter the dryness.  If you suffer from dandruff and oily hair, this would be an indication that your scalp is compensating for dryness by putting out more oil. To relieve this, you can massage our Organic Tea Tree Oil (must be used diluted in a carrier oil) into your scalp to reduce the dandruff and help moisturize your scalp. Using herbs like our Brahmi, Bhringraj, Amla and Neem can help with this problem of dry scalp.  Our Sukesh Ayurveda is a special blend that includes all of these herbs, and contains exclusive additions. Each of these herbs work together and individually to address scalp conditioning and hair follicle nourishment concerns.  Sukesh Ayurveda can...

Strengthening Spotlight: Cassia Obovata

Strengthening Spotlight: Cassia Obovata

Cassia is a versatile herb that can be used in many ways.  Today’s focus is on the strengthening power of this incredible plant based hair treatment. Our Organic Cassia Obovata (aka senna obovata or neutral henna) will give your hair the conditioning, strengthening and shine that henna similarly does.  It contains a golden or slightly yellow dye molecule that can dye light, grey or blond hairs, but more darker hair tones this won’t show up. Cassia is a hair treatment that is not as drying as henna can be, and acts as a semi-permanent. We recommend this treatment be repeated every 2-3 weeks. As a paste treatment, cassia will coat each hair strand and requires to be left in the hair at least 30-60 minutes.  It is an excellent conditioner and will make your hair glossy and thick.  You don’t have to worry about protecting your work surface from staining. Cassia treatments can be drying for some. We recommend for dryer hair types to co-wash your cassia paste out, or use a moisturizing oil after your treatment (Moisturize).  If your hair is already dry, you will want to pre-oil your hair the night before or a couple of hours before doing this treatment for best results. Recipe for Deep Conditioning using our Organic Cassia Obovata (yields enough for ear length hair. Double recipe as needed) Those with dry hair may wish to pre-oil their hair prior to treatment.  Use an oil that your hair likes and oil moderately.  You can oil the night before or two-three hours before you do your treatment. Add 2-3 Tbsp of organic cassia obovata...

Henna Sooq Shampoo Bars

Our shampoo bars are one of our best sellers. This informative blog post will help you decide on which shampoo bar is best for you. You will love our shampoo bars! Our shampoo bars come in full size bars of 4.25 (125 grams) and sample sizes of 1.5 oz (40 grams). We take great care in our shampoo bar formulations for best results. Our bars are superfatted.  This means that extra oils and butters are added to the bars during formulation to ensure a rich, creamy nourishing bar for your hair type and regimen. When using our shampoo bars, we recommend you break the bar up into three pieces and use one at a time as it will help you create a rich lather when applying to your body and hair. Allow your bar dry out completely before the next use. Rotate between two bars to ensure that it is completely dried out before use or as needed. Wet the hair with warm water thoroughly.  Rub the bar in the palms of your hands until you achieve a rich lather.  If you have hard water, it may be beneficial to add a few drops of lemon juice or vinegar to your palms just before lathering to help create a lather.  Rub the lather gently through your hair.  If your hair has a waxy feel, use a diluted acid rinse of  2tbs lemon juice, vinegar or apple cider vinegar in 2.5 cups of water.  Leave the rinse on for 3-4 minutes and then rinse out.  Shampoo bars are alkaline which is needed to clean the hair, but the acidic rinse...
