Rising and Taking Back Who You Are

Rising and Taking Back Who You Are

Did you know that some time over a year or so ago I wanted to quit and be done with Henna Sooq? I was stuck in a place where I didn’t know where to turn to or what to do. I had lost myself. I had completely given up on myself and this company. I felt so depressed and didn’t like what I was doing anymore. Something and someone was eating at my very being. I wondered how could I even move past this? Henna Sooq is a huge part of who I am and a reflection of myself, my dreams and passion. At the same time it’s a business. Just a company. Henna Sooq isn’t a human being. There should be clear lines separating business and personal life. Part of my own problem I realized was that since I didn’t clearly draw that line that others would easily step over it. I had to decide if I wanted to quit or if I wanted to reclaim who I was and take back Henna Sooq. I decide to stay and reclaim it. To Love Yourself I had to learn to be me. I had to stop being like everyone else. I realized I was and am talented just the way I am.  I started to focus on my own talents and maximize on them. I want to thank Instagram and the community for being a huge part of the rekindling of my henna passion. I found a piece of me that had been lost. A wandering soul trying to find it’s place and purpose. No one can ever take...

Head Over Heels in Soap Making!

Head Over Heels in Soap Making!

We really love making shampoo bars, and now our new body bars! It’s extremely addicted. I personally love to cook, and bake, so making soap is like a whole new recipe for me to try. The experimentation and combinations seem endless. We now have over 50 different oils, essential oils, waxes, and butters. Not to mention all the herbs, natural colorants, powders, and all of those amazing ingredients we add to our recipes. Currently all of our shampoo and body bars are on sale at Henna Sooq. You can find them at 20% off in both the Canadian, and USA sites. So what are you waiting for?! Try out these amazing handmade shampoo and body bars today! Sale ends this Friday, March 4, 2011. My husband, and business partner, actually was the one who really wanted us to start making soaps ourselves. From the beginning he was a natural at making soap. We used to allocate soap making to an independent soap maker, and due to the change, and refocus in our business, we decided to take over production directly. This also gave us flexibility in our recipes, and gave us full ownership over our recipes. This is very important. In my personal opinion, and in business please make sure you have all arrangements, and agreements in writing so that you don’t have any misunderstandings, or loss in your business. Always protect your business, and your vision. We’ve tried both hot press, and cold press methods. There is also the oven method, but I don’t think we’ll be trying that out. With hot press, it’s very convenient, and quick. Should you be...

Getting Ready for the Bridal Season 2011

Getting Ready for the Bridal Season 2011

This is the time that you, as a professional henna artist needs to prepare for upcoming bridal clients for this season. Why do I personally recommend this time? Because this is usually the slower months of the year, and this time is perfect for you to get ready, and tweak your business to attract as many clients as you’d like to have this year. During this time brides are starting to book all of their services as well for their wedding, if they haven’t done so already. Please take note of these tips, and areas you might be able to improve upon: Offer a free bridal consultation. This should last around 30 minutes. She may come by herself, or with her fiance, or family member(s). Both of you should go over the bridal contract that you have prepared that will contain all the information you’ll need for this booking. You will also agree to prices. She should receive a free henna sample design so that she can see what the color will come out like, and see how you work. Use high quality, handmade, and fresh henna paste for best results. Have knowledge of various cultural, and traditional backgrounds. This will help you make the bride, and her family feel more comfortable, and trusting in you since they know you understand about some of their practices during their wedding. Be on time. This is a MUST! Do not gossip, and talk badly about other people. No one really likes to hear someone talking badly about others, or gossips all the time during the bridal work, and party. Make sure...
